The CRC has stringent policies and procedures to ensure that cancer data reported are maintained with the highest degree of confidentiality and privacy, according to international standards.
The CRC has been authorized by the Hellenic Protection Data Authority (http://www.dpa.gr/portal/page?_pageid=33,40911&_dad=portal&_schema=PORTAL ) to handle patients’ personal data (no. of decision ΓΝ/ΕΙΣ/516126-06-2008).
Furthermore, it has also been recognized and endorsed by the Region of Crete (RC) (http://www.crete.gov.gr/index.php?lang=el#.Us01eGDxt9A) and is functioning under his high authority after the approved Cooperation Agreement between the RCC and the Research Committee (No 414/22-11-2013) and the Dean of the University of Crete (No 320/19-11-2013).
The CRC monitoring system reserves all privacy rules and encryptions personal information right after data entry.

While the CRC does not gather all this type of data, there are several national or statewide surveys that do. The CRC could help researchers find this information either from the CRC’s external surveys or from other published researches and design such a research collaboratively.
